The colour is dark purple and intense. The nose is complex and concentrated and the taste is solid and intensely focused with a good tannin structure. Churchill's 2000 marks a milestone in Churchill's history. It is the first Churchill's Vintage year where we are Port growers and not only Port shippers. The Vintage blend now includes Ports produced from our own estates of Quinta da Gricha and Quinta do Rio. Churchill's 2000 is a Vintage Port with great ageing potential.
This young Port shows intense aromas of black licorice and berries. It's full-bodied, with superfine tannins and a long, long finish. Seductive. Fantastic young Port from Churchill. Best ever. Best after 2012. 2,000 cases made.
Perhaps the best young Churchill?s I?ve tasted, the 2000 blends complexity with structure to create an eminently ageable Port. For fruit lovers, there?s crushed berries and plums, but notes of dried spices and earth add depth. Estimated maturity: 2020?2050.
